Glider Yacht's SS18 breaks cover

Revolutionary 60ft cruising vessel with quad engines like a supercharged limo doing 56 knots

Glider Yachts Limited, a daring new British luxury yacht manufacturer, is delighted to debut what it considers "the most revolutionary high performance sportsyacht available in the world today" at the Monaco Yacht Show this September.

The 60-foot Glider Super Sports 18 (SS18) will premiere and bring a new dimension in high speed luxury to the market, Glider Yachts says, adding that the unique vessel guarantees unparalleled performance and comfort, giving owners the most luxurious sportsyacht in the world today.

The Glider SS18 has been eight years in the making, with meticulous planning, design and world-class British engineering – using best practice and expertise from Formula One and the aerospace industry, including a proprietary Stability Control System (SCS), Glider says.

This will enable the ultimate comfort whilst at anchor, cruising or at speed without the bumpiness associated with traditional sports boats, even in the choppiest of seas, it claims.

FOUR SUPERCHARGED ENGINES
Powered by four 270 BHP supercharged engines, the incredible stability and power delivers unprecedented cruising opportunities for owners; bringing previously out of range destinations within an easy reach trip from Monaco to Saint Tropez or Miami to the Bahamas will take just 45 minutes, Glider says. I guess we can apply our favourite cruising passages to this bit.

The shallow draft allows access to out of reach bays, anchoring close to the shore and even beach landings.

FIRST IN THE RANGE
The SS18 is the first in a series of luxury superyachts, ranging from 18 to 80 metres, which will be hand-built by master craftsmen at Burgess Marine on the south coast of the UK. This follows a £100 million all-British deal between the two firms.

Inwards Marine is Glider Yachts’ European sales channel partner and will be managing the client engagement and sales at Monaco Yacht Show. They will be responsible for the sales of all of Glider Yachts up to 35 metres including the limousine range and the GT & SX-E 35 range. However, focus will be on the SS18, which is being debuted at the Monaco Yacht Show, although the SL24 limousines will be available for select clientele.

SS18 FEATURES
The SS18 is said to offer a spacious cabin featuring a bespoke luxury sports interior by Corbeau, designed to complement the Glider’s timeless styling – incorporating custom soft leather seating with quilted Alcantara inners. The cockpit lining will be fully coordinated with the seating and will include chrome detailing for that crisp, clean finishing touch.

JL Audio’s premium system has been acoustically engineered for the SS18, to gain the very best sound experience for passengers. For those who desire higher volume audio, their highly acclaimed 8IN Infinite Baffle sub woofers are an optional extra.

Glider Yachts has partnered with Garmin to create a fully integrated bespoke dashboard, underpinned by its state of the art navigation system, incorporating twin 7400 series navigational touch screens to control all of the vessels systems and navigation.

The dashboard is said to be the epitome of simplicity with embedded touch screens providing an uncluttered appearance with clear and intuitive control. The underlying technology enables effortless management of all vessel systems and navigation.

TOP PARTNERS
BlueFin Yachts, which has an enviable reputation for sublime yacht finishes, guarantees that it will achieve the ultimate finish for the SS18 using traditional processes and hand-finished coatings, coupled with the latest technologies.

Aalco Metals has supplied the highest marine-grade aluminium for Glider Yachts’ SS18, from its dedicated high precision marine kit fabrication facility in Southampton, UK.

Robert McCall, Managing Director of Glider Yachts, said: "We are absolutely thrilled to be debuting our SS18 super sports yacht at Monaco. She has been eight years in research, design and development, so we’re excited to finally unveil her and show off her daringly different design and revolutionary performance to the world."

56 KNOTS CRUISE
Gliders Yachts’ unique hull form, propulsion and Stability Control System (SCS) actually tune to the sea conditions allowing the SS18’s passengers to ‘glide’ over the waves in unprecedented comfort at up to 56 knots.

"The SS18 is unlike any other yacht seen in the market to date, with unparalleled design and technological capabilities - we’re sure she is going to be a real game-changer in the superyacht market. I’m excited to see the reaction as we introduce her at Monaco for the first time," said Robert McCall.

London-headquartered Glider Yachts has a clear mission to become the world’s leading supplier of high performance luxury yachts and to deliver a more cost-effective and ultimately more comfortable, efficient and sustainable way of navigating our oceans.

The SS18 will be closely followed by the faster Hyper Sports (HS18), reaching speeds up to 100 knots. A stunning range of luxury sports limousines and the GT and SX-E range of superyachts up to 80 metres are planned.

The current lead time for delivery is seven months, meaning any orders placed at Monaco will be delivered from May 2016.
