Seakeeper has added two new gyroscopes to its range of in-boat stabilisers, featuring the DC-powered Seakeeper 4 and the AC-powered Seakeeper 4.5.
The Seakeeper 4 is the largest DC-powered Seakeeper available for boats ranging in lengths between 38-44 feet and is optimised to work without an onboard genset.
According to Seakeeper, the Seakeeper 4 has new features including an asymmetric flywheel, a single-cylinder brake, and more that allows it to provide maximum performance without the need for high power.
The Seakeeper 4 can fit into the same space as the Seakeeper 3, meaning it can be retrofitted into a boat using an existing Seakeeper system. It can also be used on an AC system if needed.
In contrast, the Seakeeper 4.5 becomes the smallest AC-powered model, which Seakeeper claims makes it perfect for boats ranging from 40-46 feet in length and equipped with an onboard genset. It also features an asymmetric flywheel and a single-cylinder brake.
The asymmetric flywheel uses a deeper, lower hemisphere that allows the motor to be tucked inside it. According to Seakeeper, the reduction in height allowed by the flywheel design maximises performance while making the footprint more compact.
Other innovations include a frame that can be disassembled to allow the gyroscope to be fitted even if access is tight, a redesigned cooling system to make maintenance simpler, and fewer mounting bolts.
Pricing for the 338kg Seakeeper 4 starts from $US44,800 ($A69,800), while the 334kg Seakeeper 4.5 is priced from $US52,600 ($A81,900). Both will go on sale globally in November.
