Let’s face it, smartphones and boats is a poor mix. Not all boats have USB ports to keep a smartphone charged up, and when they do, often there is nowhere practical to sow the combination.
Not to mention the risk of tangling the phone’s charger cord with throttle controls and steering wheels.
That’s where the British designed and developed Scanstrut ROKK Wireless comes into play. The ROKK Wireless is a mountable smartphone holder that doubles as a “Qi” wireless charging unit, meaning not only does it give you somewhere safe and secure to stow your smartphone, the battery will be topping up at the same time.

Made for 12-volt and 24-volt applications, the system is completely waterproof, meaning it is perfect for the marine environment.
As well as hidden and flush-mount charging pads that can recharge a smartphone placed on top of them, the ROKK Wireless system also comes as an externally mounted smartphone holder called the Active.
The smartphone holder features an easy one-handed operation, although it is made to mount on a flush surface, and not a bracket.

Scanstrut says charging is even possible through non-metallic waterproof cases.
“ROKK Wireless Active has been subjected to our harshest environmental, vibration, impact and on-water testing programs,” it says.
“This is combined with our world-renowned expertise in waterproofing technologies, UV stabilisation techniques and premium grade materials to ensure Active is the best and only choice to make when it comes to mounting and wirelessly charging your phone outdoors.”

Installation is simple, with four screws holding the device to any flat surface, and a sealed cable for connecting to a power source.
The Scanstrut ROKK Wireless Active retails for around $300.
