Gear: Ronstan ClearStart 40mm sailing watch
The latest updates to Ronstan’s yacht race timer range makes them easier to see, and more difficult to damageRonstan has added larger numbers and a more durable case to its range of 40mm ClearStart sailing watches.
The smaller watches, optimised for younger sailors and slender wrists, follow changes made to the adult-friendly 50mm range revealed earlier this year.
The new watch design includes a hardened and scratch resistant mineral crystal lens, recessed for extra protection, and wrapped inside a glass-reinforced case with a stainless steel structural tension ring around the lens to help with rigidity.
The watch has a soft-touch injection-moulded silicon band and the buttons, mounted on stainless steel pushrods, are triple sealed to ward off moisture.
Ronstan said the 2019 RF4054 series watches were available in three colours, joining the original Race Timer in the Ronstan ClearStart range that includes stainless steel dress watches and the 50mm range.
Prices have not yet been released, but the ClearStart watch that this one replaces was priced from $108.68.
