The latest update to the Raymarine LightHouse operating system for its multifunction displays introduces new navigation features that make piloting a boat even easier.
Named “Annapolis” in keeping with Raymarine’s move to identify its software updates using the name of the world’s must-see boating destinations, the update is a free download from http://www.raymarine.com/multifunction-displays/lighthouse3/.
New functions added in this latest update, also known as 3.9 includes:
“Laylines can be configured to display from a performance profile using fixed angles or from polar performance data.”
Raymarine says this allows owners to lock in a make and model, and automatically have the most optimised laylines automatically displayed. Targets display in an enhanced Dashboard application.
It includes a suggested steering angle to maintain VMG to windward, and helps with trimming sails to extract maximum speed.
The augmented reality system – which blends the virtual world with the real one – updates automatically to woirk with the pan and zoom of the camera system, showing features such as other boats identified by AIS, or channel marks, overlaid on the screen.
ClearCruise is only available on Axiom multifunction displays.
The maps are saved to a memory card so owners can access it at any time. This is a free service for all Axiom owners.
The system will also allow users to explore smaller portions of the water column with greater detail and a faster ping rate.
Other features include support for DJI Mavic 2 Pro and mavic 2 Pro drones; multizone volume control for Fusion head units; radar sector blanking for Magnum radar systems; and a video player for vision recorded via video-over-IP and thermal cameras.
