Raymarine has launched a modular radio system that will offer support for up to three wireless handsets that users can carry around onboard.
The Ray90 and Ray91 modular VHF radio systems both come with a commercial-grade radio transceiver with up to two fixed handsets (one via the head unit and another via an optional second wired station) using a traditional coiled cord. However, these systems allow owners to add up to three wireless handsets that give the same level of control over the radio head unit as the fixed versions.
The wireless handsets also comply with the latest regulations for DSC-equipped radios, which mean both systems come equipped with an onboard GPS receiver and a jack for an externally mounted GPS antenna. They also have an in-built automatic identification system receiver, and N2K/NMEA0183 networking support.
Raymarine said the Ray90 and Ray91 are also fitted with a built-in loudhailer, and a fog-signal generator activated via an optional hailing horn. The handheld units also offer onboard intercom communications, allowing users to make internal calls between stations.
The handsets use wireless inductive charging to top up their lithium-ion batteries when not in use.
The Ray90 and Ray91 systems will be priced from $1070, and even though they’ve just been announced for global release, they’re already available in Australia.
