Gear: Raymarine Axiom 2 XL glass bridge chartplotters

Using a six-core processor that provides a 30 per cent speed boost to panning and zooming charts, the 2 XL range is made up of the largest and most powerful Axiom-based navigation displays made for high-end motor yachts and sailboats and is available in 16-, 19-, 22- and 24-inch sizes.

“For customers looking to create a glass bridge helm solution, Axiom 2 XL offers extensive networking and video options, including NMEA2000 and three power-over-ethernet ports for integrating multiple Axiom displays, video cameras, radar, and sonar modules,” Raymarine said. 

“These high-performance chartplotter displays also feature extended multimedia capabilities, including analogue audio output, HDMI input/output, and touchscreen pass-through for integrating onboard PC applications, engine interfaces, and digital switching solutions.”

The screens are also optimised for exposure to the marine environment such as open cockpits or flybridges, featuring Raymarine’s HydroTough nano-coated displays that are made to repel water and oil “for reliable touchscreen operation in the most challenging conditions”.

The Raymarine Axiom 2 XL screens also feature an ambient light sensor that automatically adjusts display brightness for day and evening lighting conditions.

The chartplotter can also link to video streaming services, link into a Fusion audio system, and even push the display to a TV via a HDMI output.

The units can also integrate with other Raymarine technology including CAM300 and AR200 sensors to add ClearCruise augmented reality that can overlay waypoints and chart objects, including AIS, on the screen.

A smartphone connection can also let users control the unit via a Wi-Fi connection.

Raymarine will be at stand 242 in the Pavilions. The 2023 Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show runs from May 25-28.
