Marine electronics specialist Lowrance has launched the Eagle range of fishfinders featuring higher-end sonar and chart plotting, but at a much more affordable price.
The new sounders will use Lowrance’s FishReveal technology and C-MAP-based chart plotting with Genesis Live, which creates custom maps from real-time soundings that can be shared with other users.
Jeremiah Clark, the general manager of fishing systems at Lowrance’s parent company, Navico, said the new Eagle range brought high-definition sonar to Lowrance’s most easy-to-use fishfinder.
“Developed to make fishing simpler and more enjoyable, Eagle is quick to install, whether on a boat or kayak, and features enhanced autotuning sonar and comprehensive C-MAP charts,” Clark said.
“Lowrance is dedicated to providing anglers of all levels the latest technology with the single aim of helping them to find and catch more fish and with its true eagle-like vision, this new fishfinder will deliver that.”
The new fishfinder will be available in 4.0-, 5.0-, 7.0- and 9.0-inch screen sizes, while a 4x model, optimised for kayak fishers, will feature a portrait orientation.
“Designed to fish, Eagle has a new, rugged, and modern design featuring a new IPS screen [featuring better colours, faster response and a wider viewing angle than other LCD screens] that offers improved resolution, clarity, and visibility, even with polarised sunglasses in direct sunlight,” Lowrance said.
“Plus, a new range of imaging colour palettes allows anglers to adapt the display for changing conditions.”
The new sounder range will use Lowrance’s wide-angle, high-CHIRP SplitShot HDI and wider-angle TripleShot transducers for improved clarity, depth performance and sensitivity.
Eagle will also feature Lowrance’s FishReveal on DownScan, which it said “continues to make it so simple to identify fish from weeds and structures”.
The range also features a new twist-lock connector system to make installation on a boat or kayak as easy as possible.
The units also feature an SD card slot for software updates, Genesis Live recordings and add-ons to the chartplotting function.
Prices start from $199 for the 4.0-inch Eagle 4x with a Bullet Skimmer transducer up to $1199 for the range-topping 9.0-inch Eagle 9 with the TripleShot HD transducer.
