Marine audio system specialist JL Audio has launched a new app that allows users to control the audio system via a smartphone or tablet.
The app connects to the audio system via Bluetooth and mirrors the on-screen view of JL Audio’s MM105 and MM105-HR marine head units. It gives users full control over turning the audio system on or off, as well as volume, subwoofer, tone and balance of both the master audio controls, or for individual zones such as the bow, transom or below-deck speakers.
"These apps represent an exciting control upgrade for the vast number of vessels that feature the latest MediaMaster audio source units as standard or optional equipment," JL Audio electronic engineering senior vice-president Stephen Leigh said.

"The wireless control functionality and display of music data offered by the apps is comprehensive, far exceeding the features found on typical wired controllers and key fob-style remote controls."
JL Audio’s MediaMaster Remote iOS and Android apps are available via the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.
The app uses the audio system’s existing Bluetooth connection, so no extra hardware is needed, although the head units will need the latest software – version 1.0.1325 – to be installed for the app to work.
