Garmin has updated its Reactor autopilot control interface with the GHC 50, a unit featuring new, sleeker looks and even more user-friendly functions.
The new Garmin GHC 50 controller – it replaces the previous-generation GHC 20 unit – features a redesigned facia featuring edge-to-edge glass to make flush mounting look a lot more sophisticated, and a larger 5.0-inch anti-glare screen that’s brighter than before to make it more readable in direct sunlight.

The unit integrates directly with Garmin’s GPSMap chartplotters, using either a wired or wireless connection. The addition of wireless connectivity means the autopilot system can even be controlled remotely – even via a smartwatch.

“We’re excited to continue to enhance the tried-and-true Reactor autopilot series with a modern display that helps makes navigation simple and hassle-free,” Garmin global consumer sales vice-president Dan Bartel said.
“Designed for both powerboats and sailboats, the GHC 50 compliments any Garmin glass helm with its larger, more vibrant display that’s easy to see day or night.”
The redesigned interface will allow skippers to adjust the course of a boat via a button, with the change of heading data shared across all NMEA2000-compatible devices on board.
“For added convenience, users can even control the GHC 50 wirelessly using select Quatix marine smartwatches, the Garmin autopilot remote or the GRID 20 remote,” Garmin said.
The new GHC 50 unit will be sold separately or included in Reactor autopilot bundles sold by Garmin.
