Marine audio systems maker Fusion has released a new series of flush- and shallow-mount speakers and woofers that minimise the amount of space, and visual clutter, needed to install them.
Fusion said the FM series of flush-mount speaker was designed with a minimalistic, clean look, with a low-profile, near-flat installation giving “a visually appealing finish never before seen on a marine speaker”.
“Combining optimised speaker drivers inherited from the XS Series speakers with aluminium dome tweeters to produce high-quality audio at all volume levels, the FM Series is engineered with performance in mind, even at high volume levels,” Fusion said.
The New Zealand-based marine audio specialist said it had even created a new mounting system for easy, non-intrusive installation.
“...Installers simply place the unit in the cutout, tighten the screws and the speaker legs will tighten against the panel, keeping it in place without creating any screw holes,” Fusion said.
The FM Series is designed to be mounted with a flange up to 3mm thick, and is available in either square or round shapes in either 200W 7.7-inch or 120W 6.5-inch sizes and outputs.
The new shallow-mount SM series, meanwhile, was designed with a “sealed, perfectly-tuned enclosure to produce quality audio reproduction that could normally not be achieved with a standard speaker of similar size in the same location”.
The speakers are a sealed unit and need only a 24mm depth clearance for mounting.
“The sealed enclosure design enables for a truly shallow mounting solution without compromising sound quality and protects all components from damage, making the SM series capable of being installed in positions such as cabinets without needing rear speaker cups that often reduce sound quality and complicate installation,” Fusion said.
“In addition, concealed mounting holes allow for a more uniform, cleaner look.”
The SM series is available in two grille options: fabric white and black.
“Boats often present unique installation challenges while aesthetically pleasing and functional audio is an afterthought for most boat designers,” Fusion Entertainment managing director Peter Edwards said. “Our new shallow-mount speakers are perfect for offering the highest quality sound with extremely versatile mounting options.”
