Gear: AL-KO lockable coupling

All-in-one anti-theft coupling will stop anyone at the boat ramp, or in the driveway, messing with your trailer

Most trailer coupling locks are sold as separate attachments, but AL-KO has released a new range of "all-in-one" lockable trailer couplings to make it easier to secure your boat trailer from thieves.

With the locking mechanism incorporated into the body of the coupling, the new AL-KO lockable couplings are available in three 50mm ball versions: non-braked 750kg fixed, 2000kg override and 3500kg fixed, for electric-braked trailers.

The new lockable couplings come with a bigger, more user-friendly "XL Grip" and two keys, and are designed so they can be swapped easily with existing AL-KO couplings.

AL-KO says the locking solution offers protection whether the trailer is connected to a towing vehicle or when left parked.

"When in the lock position, the coupling restricts necessary movements of internal components required to engage or dis-engage the tow ball from the coupling," the company says.

No pricing was announced.
