You know you’re on a good thing when a boat’s maker marks it as one of the best models it has built to date. That’s the case with the Riviera 39 Flybridge.
In 2021 we asked industry veteran, R Marine Dillon’s Lee Dillon for his list of the top five models from the brand that stand out from the others. Among that list was the Riviera 39 Flybridge, one of which has landed on boatsales at a pretty decent price.
This particular version of the compact bluewater cruiser was built in 2000, marking it as one of the last of the 95 Riviera 39 Flybridge models built.
What makes this boat even more desirable is the fact that it is powered using twin 370hp Cummins 6BTA-M3 engines, a big performance improvement over the standard 300hp engines that powered this model at its launch in 1996.
Even though it is almost classed as a veteran, the Riviera 39 Flybridge still looks fresh, although it does miss the large hull windows that dominate the current Riviera design language.
The Rivera 39 Flybridge’s design features an open flybridge easily enclosed by clears to make it more accommodating in a mix of weather, a large and spacious saloon deck, and below, two staterooms and one bathroom.
Aft, it featured a large, open cockpit suited to sportsfishing or cruising.
This boat also featured something that has only just been reintroduced to the Riviera range, an aft flybridge helm station, complete with a bar.
The air-conditioned saloon of this particular boat includes a pair of corner lounges and a dinette, as well as a full-size galley with underfloor storage.
The owner has also spent some money on maintenance, with new carpet, LED lighting, flybridge clears, anchor rode, and a fresh cooling system with all hoses and seawater pumps replaced.
Power at anchor is provided via an Onan 7.0kVA genset.
What’s most surprising, though, is the price. The cost of membership to one of Riviera’s best models is just $345,000, a fraction of the cost of buying a new one featuring a forward flybridge helm station.
