From the classifieds: Outlaw Boats 11.9m catamaran

Jakitami, a custom-built long-range cruiser built for a second-time Outlaw owner, is now for sale

Ever heard of Outlaw Boats? It’s a West Australian boatbuilder with a fearsome reputation for building quality high-performance catamarans for discerning buyers. And now one of them is for sale.

But it’s not just any boat. It is

built in 2019 and powered by – and this is something special – two Seven Marine 627hp supercharged 6.2-litre V8 outboard engines based on GM’s LS V8 engine block and using five-blade propellers. The engines have had fairly little use, given this boat’s potential, of just 457 hours.

Seven Marine has since slipped under the waters, having been bought and then shelved by inboard marine specialist Volvo Penta. However, these engines are about the same weight as Mercury’s 600hp V12 Verado, giving new owners an upgrade option down the track.

What do we like about Jakitami? Well, it’s already set up as a comfortable offshore cruiser, so whoever steps aboard will have plenty of choice about where they go, and how quickly they get there.

Second-time owner

According to the ad, this boat was built for a customer stepping out of one Outlaw boat into a new one. That means the new one was fitted out with everything they thought the first boat was missing.

The equipment list is rather rich. It includes twin 22.0-inch Garmin GPSMap multifunction touchscreens, a Garmin 3D sounder module with Sidescan, a Furuno FCV1150 sounder, a JL Audio system with eight speakers and two subwoofers, drawer fridges, drum winch, air-conditioning, an aft winch for a jet ski or tender, cork decking, solar panels and an inverter.

It’s also well fitted out for fishing, including a dive door and a removable transom gate, cooking up the catch and then bunking down for the night with a double cabin and a single in each hull.

Other features include an electric flush toilet, a hot water system and shower, a four-seat dinette, a starboard galley, four high-backed helm seats with suspension bases, an enclosed air-conditioned wheelhouse, and a cockpit bar table with six stools.

The price? At $995,000 it’s lotto money for a lot of us, but you do get a turnkey cruiser that will easily do 400 nautical miles at 28 knots, with a top speed of around 40 knots. Start buying those tickets today.
