Melbourne-based alloy boat brand Bar Crusher has a legacy of building tough boats built to fish in a range of conditions throughout Australia. One of the more desirable models is the XT Series of open hard top.
Sleek, fast, and with the singleminded job of connecting its occupants with whatever fish – inland or offshore – they desire, the hard top range has plenty of appeal.
It’s why when one comes up on boatsales, it’s sure to attract interest. And more so when it’s been the ride of long-running TV show, Hook, Line and Sinker.
This 2021 Bar Crusher 730XT featured prominently as the fishing platform for HLS hosts Andrew Harty and Nick Duigan during the show’s last season.
Season 22 saw the Bar Crusher 730XT travel the country, from Kakadu in the Top End to the series’ home turf in Tasmania, and everything in between.
The 730XT is the middle child in the XT Series line-up, sitting comfortably in between the smaller 670XT and the range-topping 780XT.
Being a showboat, no expense was spared when kitting it out. The boat already comes standard with Bar Crusher’s Waveslicer hull, non-slip alloy deck, a flooding keel to help with at-rest stability, rubberised desktops, a step-through transom, plumbed live bait tank, bait station with tackle drawers, and a berley bucket with macerator built into one of the duckboards.
For Hook, Line and Sinker, the boat was equipped with a 250hp Yamaha four-stroke F250 V6 outboard engine – the engine brand is one of the show’s sponsors – that has clocked up just 400 hours.
The engine is also equipped with Yamaha’s Helm Master EX joystick control system that makes the boat a lot easier to move at slow speeds and even fish underwater structures without dropping the anchor.
A bonus is the Minn Kota Ulterra 112lb electric trolling motor hooked up to a 36V lithium-ion battery system with Bluetooth connectivity so you can monitor battery health on your smartphone.
It’s also linked to a Humminbird Apex 13 with a 1kW Airmar transducer to help spot the fish.
There’s also a pumping audio system, wireless phone recharger, a set of clears to provide all-weather protection, and a dual-axle Bar Crusher galvanised trailer.
The price of all this sparkling offshore package? It’s currently listed for $149,990. Luckily, too, this one has not been dropped on a boat ramp.
