The Frauscher 858 Fantom is a 28ft day cruiser with a truly breathtaking design penned by an all-star Austrian team.
Thomas Gerzer, the mastermind behind Frauscher success stories like the 717 GT joined forces with Harry Miesbauer (of Luca Brenta, Wally and Maxi Dolphin fame) for the hull design and KISKA, the design team behind recent Audi interiors and KTM motorcycles to produce this stunning new creation.
Frauscher says the new 858 Fantom represents the next step in boat design. This 480hp beast has a claimed top speed of 48 knots with the optional 8.2-litre V8 powerplant. The 858 Fantom can also be ordered with diesel power and the designers say that even with a diesel the new boat will still crack 40 knots.
The hull is based on other Frauscher designs with elements like the characteristic stainless steel hull-deck connection, frameless and tinted windscreen and the large teak decks. KISKA improved the design by shaping what Frauscher calls a truly three-dimensional boat. Underwater construction features a straight bow and stepped hull design as in other recent Frauscher creations.
Standard features include a generous upholstered sun pad, a lavishly furnished cabin, head with pressurised hot and cold water and a holding tank.
Options include a custom-designed stainless-steel anchor with electric windlass, bow thruster, bimini top, BOSE audio system and numerous colours for the hull and upholstery.
Frauscher says that while the 858 Fantom will make a fantastic day boat for the family, many will find homes in the garages of super yachts in the Mediterranean and beyond. Pricing in Europe is quoted as just over 150,000 euros (around $230,000).
