Four new Azimuts heading to Australia

Italian boatbuilder Azimut Yachts is about to make its biggest sortie into Australian waters ever with news that four new boats are heading for the importer 5 Star Motor Cruisers at Pyrmont on Sydney Harbour.

The delivery of the luxury fleet begins next month and includes the latest just-launched 43 and the 50 Atlantis (the latter with a host of custom mods), the 43 Magellano trawler with a modern semi-displacement hull, and the popular 64 (a demonstrator) from the Flybridge Collection.

5 Star Motor Cruisers is excited to be delivering the diverse range of Azimut boats that it says showcases the talents of the established Italian boatbuilder and its broad design skills.

Peter Redford, joint Managing Director at 5 Star, said there’s been a healthy resurgence of interest in new boats.

BUYING ON QUALITY
"People have been holding off and are now very comfortable with the present environment and ready to enjoy life a bit more," Mr Redford told boatsales.com.au and BoatPoint.com.au.

"I genuinely say we’ve got quite a lot of interest in new boats. We've had such strong interest in the 40-60 footers, but we’ve also got a lot of inquiry in boats from 75-90 feet.

"Azimut is one yard that does offer a solution for everyone right up to the 100-metre Benetti superyachts, which have sold out production in the near future at least," Mr Redford explained.

After six tough years representing Azimut post-GFC, this is the best year for 5 Star and the luxury Italian-boat brand in Australia yet.

"The tertiary or educated owners have returned. They’re not buying on price-by-length but base their purchasing decisions on quality," Mr Redford adds.

The four new Azimut’s heading to Australia are all presold, with three boats in Sydney and one heading interstate.  

"Given the state of luxury out there in 'Boatland', Azimut remains desirable for those new-boat buyers seeking more than just great visual appeal. When you dig deeper into the specifications you will find a stronger boat and a better-equipped boat," Mr Redford says.

ATLANTIS 43
The just-launched 43 from Neo Design is the latest new Azimut in the sportscruiser line-up and hailed as a special boat. Versatile and functional, it features two large sunpads, on the bow and transom, each big enough for three. There's a tender garage for a 2.1m ducky or a 2.85m model can be carried on the swim platform.

In addition to the main galley below decks, the large, external galley with sink, barbecue and fridge should appeal to local boaters. Nearby, the lounging area alongside the helm transforms instantly into forward-facing seating, while the electric soft top adds to the sportscruiser's wind-in-hair appeal.

Accommodation is spread over two cabins and there are two heads with separate shower stalls. The clever aft cabin has single berths that convert to a double and a separate single bed as well. All told, the svelte sportscruiser is said to be able to sleep seven. Storage has also been maximised.

The Atlantis 43 is a fast boat with twin Volvo Penta D6 engines and sterndrives giving 35 knots top speed and 30 knots cruise.

ATLANTIS 50
The 50 Atlantis is the second-biggest
offering in the namesake go-fast Collection. The svelte sportscruiser
from the pen of Neo Design and Azimut delivers 32 knots top speed from a
pair of 600hp Cummins QSC 8.3 turbo-diesel engines coupled to vee
drives, the yard says.

The generous twin-cabin/twin en suite or
three-cabin layout includes a stunning full-beam stateroom. A large
tender garage and cockpit are features of the svelte boat with go-fast
lines and off-the-wheel sports performance.

MAGELLANO 43
The Magelleno 43 is the smallest boat in Azimut’s contemporary trawler range that has been a big hit overseas. Like all good liveaboard cruising boats in the genre, there are full walkaround decks and a large flybridge station (with or without a hardtop) to complement the internal all-weather helm.

Accommodation is designed to cater for a family, with three cabins that each sleep two people, including a forward stateroom with island queen berth. There are two bathrooms each with a full shower stall, an aft galley up in the saloon, and inbuilt cockpit seating and a forward sunpad.

A pair of unstressed 380hp Cummins 6.7-litre diesel engines give a top speed of 22 knots and 17 knots cruise in the semi-displacement “dual-mode” cruiser. An interesting Azimut, indeed.

AZIMUT 64 FLYBRIDGE
Italian pizzazz, that attractive
combination of vitality and glamour, is the overwhelming first
impression of the impressive 64 Flybridge, which is the baby of designer
Stefano Righini.

According to Azimut, the twin 1150hp CAT ACERT
engines and lightweight carbon fibre structures offer 34 knots top speed
and 28 knots fast cruise from the vee-shaped planing hull with 17
degrees of transom deadrise.

The ‘house’ of the saloon is defined
by dynamic windows with the signature "fin" effect. Crew or kids
quarters hide under the central C-shaped cockpit lounge, while the bow
includes a large recessed sunpad.

The saloon has been split into
two areas: an aft lounging area and a forward galley and dinette behind
the helm. The flybridge offers wind-in-your hair cruising and
exhilaration.

Accommodation ranges through three cabins for a
sleeping up to eight with the crew cabin. The private full-beam
stateroom has a luxury en suite behind its offset king bed, plus a
breakfast nook alongside enlarged hull windows.

The four new Azimut boats will be displayed at Sydney International Boat Show opening July 30-August 3.
