Formosa makes SRT hull, Pro Deck available range-wide

Extensive updates to the Formosa Marine range add a lot more appeal for buyers

Australian boat-builder Formosa Marine has rolled out a number of running changes to its plate aluminium boat line-up including the loss of the Classic and Offshore options, but more standard features across the range.

The loss of the Classic and Offshore models effectively makes the SRT hull, built off the Sea-Rod and Tomahawk designs and introduced as an option last year, standard across all models.

From now, each Formosa boat rolling off the Brisbane production line will come out of the factory wearing racing stripes and the Formosa SRT logo.

Buyers also gain access to the Pro Deck checkerplate aluminium floor update across all, rather than select, models. Pro Deck is now optional on boats sized between the 495 to the 635, while boats from the 675 up come with it fitted as standard.

Owners can choose between marine-grade carpet or checker plate, currently offered as a no-cost option.

Each Formosa model now gains:

  • A flush-folding transom door
  • Welded aluminium rod holders
  • SeaStar hydraulic steering
  • Formosa’s step-down active transom
  • 5083 high-tensile bottom sheets

“The Formosa SRT is a skilfully engineered plate boat hull, which combines over 20 years of boat building experience and the very best of proven plate boat design, making the SRT Hull a clear leader in performance, innovation, quality and value,” Formosa said in a statement announcing the changes.

“The hull gives you a great balance between a dry, quiet and soft riding hull, and the ultimate level of stability at rest.

“Formosa’s wide hull and high sides mean you get a much larger deck which is safe and stable in which to enjoy a comfortable day out with your mates or family.”

Adding appeal

Individual models have also undergone revisions to make them more appealing in the eyes of buyers.

The Runabout is no more, replaced with the Cuddy Cab featuring a forward cabin on top of a raised deck.

Formosa says the split console design has provided more undercover storage space than the Runabout while still providing walk-through access to the bow via a set of steps.

Formosa’s Centre Cabin, with its walkaround decks, now has a design that adds more deck space up front.

The centre cabin’s console now has provision for a flush-mounted throttle and large driver console to suit flat-screen electronic displays.

A folding rocket launcher with hardtop visor, an electric trolling motor mount, two cabin shelves and a storage area for a portable toilet are all now standard.

T-top option

Formosa’s Centre Console models all feature a redesigned console and access to an optional T-top with rocket launcher and hardtop visor.

The driver’s console on the centre console models will now fit the latest flat-screen electronic displays and adds storage solutions such as a new folding seat option out front.

The centre console models also feature a forward-folding windscreen that provides “an unobstructed view”, and an extra storage compartment with drainage under the front deck.

Buyers also gain the choice of two different twin-seat box options with icebox access, while the BOSS Console features a large lockable storage area with room for a private toilet, a dry space to stash gear or even as a refuge from the elements.

“There is no doubt that Formosa Marine’s continuous enhancements add massive quality and value for anyone who wants to venture off-land and enjoy the Australian waters,” Formosa said.
