Foiling Lasers

Now you can get a kit to make your Laser really get up and boogie

First came the Moths, now the big America’s Cup catamarans... it seems like foiling is the all the rage. Well, now, thanks to a some ingenious Aussie development, you can get a kit to turn your Laser into a foiler.

Available through PSA, the kit gives you all you need to quickly turn your dinghy into a state-of-the-art foiling machine. Called the Glide Free Foiling Kit, it is available on-line and costs $5800.

The manufacturer say the new Glide Free kit is simple to rig and easy to launch in shallow water, has automatic control with no need to ‘tweak’ the settings on the water, is easy to clip on without altering the existing boat, and has robust construction.

The secret to the success of the system, we’re told, is the fully articulated foil, which provides less drag and at the same time is both detachable and retractable. All the control mechanisms are encapsulated within the centreboard.
