Flying Phantom 18ft foiling cat to be built by McConaghy

The Australian-bred composite specialist will build these futuristic foiling French cats

Phantom International and McConaghy have announced a new boat building partnership that will see the famous Australian-bred boat yard build the Phantom International range including the amazing new 18ft foiling catamaran, the Flying Phantom Essentiel, which was launched at Paris Boat Show in December last year.

This partnership is a major milestone in Phantom International history says Alex Udin, the founder of the cutting-edge French cat company.

"We are very proud to work with McConaghy. Very few boat builders met our extensive requirements in terms of technology, quality and delivery. Looking at the sales forecast we wanted to give ourselves the right production tool."

Mark Evans, Managing Director of McConaghy, said he was equally excited to be building their high-tech foiling multihulls.

"We will bring to the partnership our 50 years of experience, along with the latest in production techniques and equipment.

"We believe our two companies, both with solid backgrounds, will make a strong team to push these high quality products into the market place.

"We will also be working with Phantom International to develop new products."

Both Flying Phantom Elite and the new Flying Phantom Essentiel will be manufactured at McConaghy’s high-tech factory just North of Hong-Kong in Zhuhai (China).

The new deal is yet another advancement in the evolution of foiling sailing craft.

In 2017, McConaghy is celebrating its 50-year anniversary at the forefront of the composite yacht-building industry.

The specialist boat builder, once located at Mona Vale on Sydney's northern beaches, has been steadily expanding its range of yachts and growing the high-performance marine portfolio and partnership build businesses.
