A 24-metre luxury catamaran that can come complete with its own onboard cinema will headline the 2020 Sanctuary Cove Boating Festival when it kicks off on November 13.
The Multihull Group has confirmed the new Lagoon Seventy 8, launched in Europe in 2017 as the largest powered catamaran ever built by Lagoon’s owner, Beneteau, will make its Australian debut at the event.
Other features that the Lagoon Seventy 8 will introduce to owners are a boardroom, meeting area, spacious galley and saloon, workshop and separate crew quarters.
“The SEVENTY 8 from Lagoon has a unique broad-scale offering when you consider volume, range, speed and comfort,” The Multihull Group managing director John Cowpe said.
“It’s certainly a boat well suited to the Australian seascape. She follows in the enormous success in Australia of the Lagoon 630MY and takes it to the next level.”
Joining the Lagoon Seventy 8 will be a $US1.2 million ($A2.5 million) Iliad 50, another three-level powered bluewater cruising catamaran, along with a Seawind 1160 passage making sailing cat, and an Aquilia 36 powered catamaran for those seeking en entree to luxury powered catamaran ownership.
These boats now count towards more than 100 exhibitors who have signed up to the November 13-15 show, seen as a precursor to the 2021 Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show after this year’s event was waylaid by the COVID-19 global pandemic.
Domenic O’Brien, the sales and partnerships manager for the company behind the festival, Mulpha Events, said the show would have a range of well-known brands and new models across a range of boating lifestyles.
“The event will feature an impressive range of Australian and international brands that service all ends of the market, with a highly sought-after segment of vessels on water ranging from those that are slightly bigger than a trailerable boat, but smaller than a 60-footer,” O’Brien said.
“Whether mono or multihull, sailing or power, sport or day cruising, fishing or skiing, there will be something for everyone, and we’re looking forward to showcasing our spectacular marina to both visitors and exhibitors.
“The Sanctuary Cove Boating Festival is significant as the only boat show on the Australian calendar this year, and we are proud to be able to support the wider marine industry with a smaller, yet meaningful and safe event.”
The event, which will run from November 13-15, will be free to attend, but under strict COVIDSafe guidelines, visitors will be asked to pre-register their attendance via the Sanctuary Cove Boating Festival website.
