Flat-back Quintrex Freestyler to add LinQ accessories support

BRP confirmed this week that the LinQ system – previously only tentatively earmarked for the three flat-sterned versions of the Quintrex Freestyler that will launch the new engine in Australia – will be a part of the product roll-out, expected sometime later this year or early next year.

It means Quintrex Freestyler owners will be able to make the most of the Stealth Technology’s biggest asset – more than a metre of flat space on the boat’s transom that the disruptive low-profile outboard engine yields for the boats built to use it.

LinQ was developed as a fast and easy way for Sea-Doo owners to securely add and remove accessories to their jet skis. It currently offers everything from iceboxes to extra fuel canisters for long-range applications, waterproof soft luggage, extra storage and even rod- and cupholders.

Some of the LinQ accessories made for the Sea-Doo range are stackable, meaning you can, say, mount a storage bag on top of a fuel can to maximise space.

Quintrex’s US cousin, Alumacraft, has already announced it will tap into the LinQ system to develop a number of storage options for its range of mainly fishing-focused aluminium runabouts using the Stealth Technology.

An image posted on the Alumacraft website teasing the new LinQ system shows a user accessing a large icebox that appears to be fitted to the aft deck. It will also have gunnel-mounted LinQ accessories as part of a new "Alumatrac" mounting system.

Alumacraft boats will include the choice of optional 130-litre or 230-litre live wells built in under the aft deck as part of its Rotax model roll-out. The new boat's design features a pair of aft pods that extend aout past the engine, adding more flotation as well as allowing for the flat deck above.

A spokesperson for Quintrex said the LinQ system was a “work in progress” for the brand, with the goal to offer it to Quintrex buyers “at a time in the future”.
