Fishing Tip: Stealth is the Key

Fishing advice provided by IFISH TV
A decade ago, you would have only seen an engine on the back of a boat. These days, however, Watersnake electrics and other brands, mounted to the front of boats have made a massive impact on the way we fish.
If you are ever in a freshwater or estuarine situation and, sometimes even in the salt, having an electric can make the difference between catching nothing and a prized bag of fish.
Electric motors are virtually silent. This equates to the advantage of stealth. You can approach schools of fish, as I did on a recent trip on the Mitchell River, without them realising you are there.
It wasn’t long until I was then smacking large numbers of bream and estuary perch and making some pretty awesome TV!
Electrics motors also allow you to sit in the perfect position in your boat, whether you are bait, lure or fly-fishing.
Using a hand- or foot-operated remote control, or GPS anchor function, allows you to adjust your boat’s position regularly and easily to maintain the ultimate fishing and casting angles.
Just get to your location, deploy your electric, sneak up on the fish and you will be impressed with the results you get.
It is also very important to correctly maintain the batteries used in conjunction with your electric motor. To do this, I use a trickle charger. I keep this plugged into a 240-volt socket anytime the boat is stored in the shed.
This gives me peace of mind, knowing that every time I hit the water, the electric will be fully charged and ready to help me make a silent approach to catch the fish I’m after.
So if you haven’t already got an electric, go out and get one. It will change the way you fish. If you do have one, make sure you use it to the best of your ability, as it really does have the power to change your fishing life. My foot-controlled Watersnake electric has become essential for optimal fishing.

Paul Worsteling
