The new Fin-Nor Primal lever drag fishing reel is a lightweight but heavy-duty overhead designed specifically for tackling big saltwater fish on the latest braided lines. The reel weighs less than 400 grams and offers a real alternative to traditional overhead designs.
Available in two sizes, the Primal PR10 has a narrow spool and line capacity of 415yd (380m)/30lb (15kg) braid, while the Primal PR12 wide spool has a capacity of 440yd (400m)/50lb (24kg) braid. Both sizes are available in a low gear ratio of 5.8:1 for cranking power or a high gear ratio of 7.3:1 for a quick haul.
Fin-Nor expects both high-tech Primal variants will be a hit with anglers using modern jigging techniques and seeking powerful overhead reels that are comfortable to use all day long. From the pitch, the reels sounds robust and ready for serious jigging.
CRANKING POWER
With the so-called MegaDrag carbon-fibre drag system, you can achieves up to 30lbs (15kg) of maximum and mega-smooth drag, says Fin-Nor, adding that the MegaLock instant anti-reverse system gives instant stopping power on hookup.
The anodised handle and oversize EVA grips are designed to let anglers turn up the heat on powerful fish, offering immense cranking potential, while a pawl-and-ratchet back-up clutch adds security and confidence for tackling serious brawlers.
A MegaShield multi-layer of corrosion protection, and six double-shielded stainless steel bearings, assist smooth and reliable operation.
LIGHT BUT STRONG
Inshore and offshore anglers are expected to be pumped about this powerful braid-friendly duo of overhead reels. They are exceptionally light and easy to use and perfect for targeting trophy pelagic and reef fish, Fin-Nor enthuses.
Kingfish, Samson fish, mackerel, tuna and coral trout are just a few of the species in the scope of the new Fin-Nor Primal PR10 and PR12. And at less than 400 grams in weight and with a wild 7.3:1 ratio, you can go hard all day.
