Navigating the seas and fishing in some of the remotest waters Australia has to offer is the mission of Mark Ratchford, who will trailerboat around the country for six continuous months to raise funds for Cancer Council Australia research in every port of Australia.
The national event called Fish for Life is backed by some of Australia's biggest boating brands: Mercury Outboards, Evolution Boats, Simrad, Monster Fish, BIA, Savage Trailers and Savwinch.
With a dedicated ground crew, Radford and his boat will travel 16,500 kilometres crossing three oceans, four seas, one gulf, one bite and two straits.
The challenge may take up to 50 hours of straight boating, only stopping to meet the refuelling vessel.
JOIN FISH FOR LIFE
Over 90 fishing trip legs are up for grabs. You can choose NT barramundi, Broome sailfish or even the Tasmania Tuna. Radford has put the call out to keen fishers and philanthropists to secure a spot on board the trip of a lifetime with your mates.
Departing Melbourne boat show in June 2016, the Fish for Life Team will be raising funds for the event by auctioning off legs of the trip, selling merchandise items, and hosting events around the country.
BECOME AN AMBASSADOR
Ratchford is seeking enthusiastic 'Fundraiser Ambassadors' to help distribute merchandise items across the country and head up state teams in WA, NSW, Tas, ACT and NT. All proceeds raised go to the Cancer Council office in your state. Register online at http://www.fishforlife.org.au.
Fish for Life is backed by high profile Australian fishing expert Lee Rayner as the event's Dedicated Ambassador. Rayner has selected Fish for Life as his charity event of the year.
Upon return from the trip, the Evolution 625 worth over $100,000 will be auctioned off to the nation. More at http://www.fishforlife.org.au.
