First Technomar for Lamborghini 63 delivered

Technomar’s supercar with water wings has launched with performance benchmarks as impressive as its looks

Italian brands Lamborghini and Technomar have officially launched the first of their collaborations, the Tecnomar for Lamborghini 63.

The new model, teased last year, is a 24-tonne, 4000hp twin-engined block of floating flats capable of hitting speeds that, were it on land, it would earn you a speeding ticket in most parts of Australia.

Built by The Italian Sea Group, the Tecnomar for Lamborghini 63 is based on the design of the Lamborghini Sian FKP 37, a $5.2 million limited edition, 602kW V12-engined hybrid supercar.

“We are proud to see the essence of Lamborghini DNA that today sets out to sail the sea with the same attitude of our super sports cars that race across the asphalt,” Automobili Lamborghini strategy director Stefano Rutigliano said at the first boat’s handover this week.

“This yacht is proof that the shared values and perfect synergy of the two teams are the key for executing excellent projects.”

Thankfully, the motor yacht hitting the water looks almost exactly the same as the images of the new model teased last year, right down to the Lamborghini tail-lights that sit on each side of the aft coamings.

At the heart of the Tecnomar for Lamborghini 63’s performance – stellar considering it’s over water, not land – is a pair of 2000hp MAN V12 engines that officially make this model the fastest in the Technomar fleet of boats.

While that 24,000kg displacement sounds like a lot, it could have been much more and is probably half the weight you’d expect of an equivalent-size sports cruiser. It’s because the Technomar for Lamborghini 63's hull is made using fibreglass set under a vacuum to make it lighter and stronger than more traditional boatbuilding methods, while the boat’s upper structure uses carbon fibre, just like the car on which the Tecnomar for Lamborghini 63 is based, to shed mass.

The Tecnomar for Lamborghini 63 is classed as an ultralight superyacht, with its lighter displacement helping it to hit that impressive top speed.

The boat’s interior is a collaboration between the shipyard’s and supercar maker’s design studios, while the cantilever coupe roof is inspired by Lamborghini’s historic roadsters.

The one thing the press releases haven’t disclosed is price. The likelihood is that it is just as stratospheric as the Tecnomar for Lamborghini 63’s performance.
