The first boat from the French-made Rhea range has arrived in Australia. The exciting and elegant 27 Open landed in Melbourne in early February at the Savage Dock, Williamstown, for commissioning and immediately had tongues wagging and heads turning due to her elegant lines, classic tumblehome stern and flared bow.
The Rhea 27 Open has a centre-cabin layout that is well suited to day or short cruises. Below decks are two berths, a galley and marine toilet.
On the spacious decks you derive a feeling of safety and comfort due to the high freeboard and the hull can achieve good speed while maintaining predicatble handling and seaworthiness, says the French yard.
The central, protected steering console seats two adults in comfort and the stainless-steel hand rail around the windscreen and pilot seating add to on-board safet.
There are numerous storage lockers and two folding benches which convert the aft cockpit into a spacious dining area for lunch with family and friends. So v-e-r-y European. Ditto the large forward sunbed for relaxing.
Ensign Ship Brokers are the Australian distributor for Rhea and were said to be thrilled to hand the new boat over to her new owner Mr Girarde-Foley. The handover was conducted by Stephen Richardson from Ensign Victoria.
