First look: Pursuit DC 235 teased ahead of Australian release
The Pursuit DC 235 springs up on social media as the premium US saltwater fishing and family specialist readies for its local debut under a new distributorCobalt Boats Australia has used social media to tease the first of the Pursuit boats it will soon start importing to Australia.
The Australian distributor of US boat brand Cobalt announced early last year that it would start bringing in the fibreglass outboard sportfishing and family boat specialist not long after Pursuit was snapped up by Cobalt’s parent company, Malibu Boats.

The Australian premiere of Pursuit Boats Australia will take the form of the new dual console Pursuit DC 235 centre console launched in the US in 2016. The boat originally was to have been launched in Australia in November.
The boat is shown while undergoing a shakedown on the Gold Coast aheasd of its launch. The blank dash in front of the helm reveals it is so fresh off the boat that it is yet to be fitted out with electronics.
“The Pursuit boat is a premium offshore fishing boat that has crossed over into a versatile family boat while also offering pure sportfishing models in its range,” Cobalt Boats Australia general manager Andy Clayton said ahead of the Pursuit brand’s Australian launch.
“Dad gets to fish, you can tow the kids for water sports, and there’s plenty of seating for mum and guests to sit back and relax, making the Pursuit a suitable boat for the whole family.”
Australia’s first modern Pursuit to go on sale is fitted with a single 250hp Yamaha F250 outboard engine.
Other features of the boat include a Lewmar winch with remote control, Delta stainless steel anchor, bow table with filler cushion, transom-mounted ski tow point, fibreglass hardtop with Sunbrella side and aft curtains, dual transom rod holders, and a JL audio system with four speakers.
Comfortable seating
“The DC 235 is packed full of comfortable seating and storage with classic styling throughout,” Pursuit Boats Australia said.
“The value of the DC235 is delivered through a fully appointed standard specification with popular options. Notable standard features include plush cushions, porcelain marine head, cockpit bolsters and a thorough array of fishing features.
“The single Yamaha F250 outboard delivers consistent performance for a variety of water sports from board sports to cruising and fishing.”

In the US, the high-end boutique Pursuit range covers centre console, offshore, sport and dual console models and extends from 23 to over 40 feet with dual-console family runabouts, enclosed cockpit models and hard top sport fishing options
The Pursuit DC 235 should soon be joined by other models including the twin-outboard engined Pursuit S288 walkaround centre console and the offshore-capable Pursuit OS 325 hardtop that also features a dual outboard rig.
