Edencraft gave Queenslanders a first look at its all-new Edencraft 255 Formula at Sanctuary Cove boat show, with the boat packing more visual and electronic punch just in time for the event.
The new Edencraft 255 Formula is loosely based on the deep-vee 233 Formula Classic but features a full engine pod, a new deckhouse and up to 800hp of outboard engine hanging off it.
Probably its best feature is the long and low swept profile of the hull, offset with one of the best-proportioned hardtops we’ve seen on a trailerable boat. A high-set bow rail enhances rather than detracts from the visual appeal, while pop-up cleats drop down to deck level to reduce visual clutter.
The Edencraft 255 Formula is made for offshore fishing, featuring a big tuna door on the starboard side, a walkaround transom and plenty of onboard storage for gear via large, deep and wide side pockets raised off the floor so you can get a foot under.
A large bait board features rotating rod holders and sinker cups. Rotating rod holders and a pair of Swingers outriggers complete the picture.
The interior features bolstered coamings, a pull-out rear bench seat that sits below the bait station, and twin live bait tanks built into either corner of the cockpit.
The boat on show at Sanctuary Cove was given a bit of a birthday in the lead-up to the show, adding a suite of Raymarine electronics including three 16-inch Axiom Pro touchscreens, a Cyclone solid-state radar system that can spot flocks of birds – a sure sign of the bait fish that larger game species feed on – on the horizon, a new set of transducers and a thermal imaging camera that’s handy for bumping in and out of marinas at night.
The Edencraft 255 Formula was also fitted with a “memento monitor”, a pair of cameras with one facing forward over the bow and the other facing the aft cockpit and designed to record any of the action once a fish is hooked up.
Other features at the Edencraft’s helm include a stainless steel steering wheel, suspension seats for both the skipper and first mate, and box frames below the seats that allow an ice box to slip under. The aft protruding section of both ice boxes is equipped with a cushion to act as a jump seat.
The hardtop is fitted with sliding side windows, while a four-speaker Roswell audio system provides the tunes for making the passage to and from the shelf.
Adding the Edencraft 255 Formula to your driveway is not for the faint-hearted, with a base boat featuring a 300hp outboard engine likely to come in at around the $400,000 mark. As you see it, you’re probably looking at around $450,000 on a full-fruit version featuring all the available options, and excluding the trick Raymarine electronics.
Standard inclusions are a lock-up cabin door, catch tank, a foam-filled hull, dual live bait tanks, lidded anchor well, dive door, glove box, sliding windows in hardtop, lockable hatches, and a stainless steel bow roller.
