Ferretti 450 makes a statement

Ferretti Yachts makes its comeback in the under-50-feet luxury owner/driver fleet

Ferretti Yachts is poised to make a stunning return to the under-50 feet range when its new 450 flybridge yacht debuts to the public at the Cannes Yachting Festival 2016 from September 6-11.

Style, comfort, class, performance, brightness, luxury lounge areas and sporty DNA are among the descriptors that the Italian luxury-boat builder is laying down ahead of the launch.

Unveiled in late July at a private preview in Portopiccolo Sistiana, an exclusive marina a few miles from Trieste, the new 450 yacht was created to "captivate enthusiasts and owners from all over the world."

SPORTY ATTITUDE
A result of the collaboration between the Ferretti Group Product Strategy Committee, the Group’s Engineering Department, which supervised the technical and naval engineering, and the Studio Zuccon International Project, which handled both exterior and interior design, the Ferretti 450 is a flybridge yacht said to have a sporty feel.

Bucking the trend to pods, and perhaps as a point of difference with other Italian marques, the 450 uses a pair of Cummins 425hp or upgraded 480hp diesel engines with shaft drives and joystick docking options for up to 31 knots performance.

Meantime, the three decks were designed for comfort using extraordinarily bright interiors with large glazed surfaces. The furnishings were developed by the Ferretti Group Engineering Department interior designers to create a refined, playful contrast between the variety of materials and colours.

The sophisticated combination of woods, lacquered surfaces and fabrics fuses a contemporary living style with a traditional marine design. Ferretti says this is the hallmark of the brand and a combination which, over almost 50 years, has captivated owners all around the world.

LIVING ON THE MAIN DECK
Once on board, the hydraulic stern swimming platform doubles as a submerged beach club or a tender lift (up to 2.80 metres).

The cockpit is fitted with an aft sofa and a wooden table, while the interiors of the main deck is an open space with a fully parquetry floor.

The galley on the port side features walnut joinery, the worktop is made from innovative nanotechnology material, while leather upholstered features on the cabinet on the starboard side containing the refrigerator and freezer.

The central living area is fitted with a sofa on the port side surrounding a dining table, opposite which is a second sofa, behind the lower helm station.

BELOW DECKS ACCOMMODATION
The three-cabin layout sleeps up to six people, quite an achievement on a 45-footer.

The full-beam master suite features walnut, fabrics, lacquered surfaces and carpet in various shades of grey, as well as leather inserts in the furniture panels, framework and headboard.

Volume and space are highlights, as is the central double bed flanked by a comfortable sofa, abundant storage compartments, and two spacious wardrobes.

The master suite is completed by a large ensuite with separate shower decorated by a mosaic wall.

A similar interior design distinguishes the VIP suite in the bow, while the guest cabin features bunk beds are in the starboard cabin.

The second bathroom with separate shower in the VIP suite is shared with the third cabin and can also be used as a dayhead.

FLYBRIDGE AND EXTERIORS
Ferrretti says the flybridge gives this yacht its character.

The sun deck is divided into a dining area, with central table and bar unit, and a central upper helm station.

The compact design of the helm station, along with the storage of the life raft under the captain’s seat, is said to help create space for a large sunpad at bow.

A retractable sun canopy shelters guests during the hottest hours of the day. The bow of the yacht is also designed for relaxation thanks to the central sunpad on the foredeck.

ENGINES AND PERFORMANCE
The Ferretti Yachts 450 is fitted with a pair of Cummins QSB 6.7 engines, either 425hp or 480hp, with the latter giving cruise speeds of 27 knots with a maximum speed of 31 knots (preliminary data).

The new yacht can also be fitted with a joystick docking system to make manoeuvring and mooring even easier.
