Hanse has felt the need for speed, releasing a first look overnight at the Privilege 510 Signature D-Light, a new catamaran built for minimising passage times.
The design incorporates more lightweight materials – the boom and mast are both made from carbon-fibre, the deck and bulkheads are reinforced using carbon-fibre, the rigging is made from Kevlar, railings are aluminium and the guard wires are textile rather than wire.
The focus on weight saving goes further, with the floorboards featured inside using a foam core to make them lighter than solid boards.

All up, the use of lightweight materials has resulted in a 10 per cent weight saving for the 17-metre Privilege 510 Signature D-Light, while the extensive use of carbon-fibre has increased rigidity substantially, the
Inside, the Darnet Design-led interior is “seamlessly integrated with the hydrostatics of the naval architect Marc Lombard”, Hanse said.
“This D-light version is paired perfectly with its modern, pure and functional interior allowing unlimited possibilities,” it said.

Hanse bought out the French catamaran builder Privilege last year, giving the new German monohull sailboat owner access to the growing twin-hull market.
The 510 Signature is Privilege’s newest flagship, featuring a sharp-looking design with extended windows that add to the all-around views that the catamaran’s open-plan design provides.
The brand boasts the largest owner’s cabin in its class, complete with a private companionway from the saloon area.
According to Privilege, the 510 Signature is optimised for long-distance bluewater cruising.
