It’s the first new Verado-badged outboard engine from Mercury in four years, so we take a deep dive into what makes it specialThe Mercury Verado 400 was launched at this week’s Miami International Boat Show with surprisingly little fanfare for what is now the most powerful outboard engine in the offshore fishing-friendly range.
The performance parameters of the Mercury Verado 400 engine means it is now just as powerful as the top-spec Mercury Racing 400R. However, Mercury is believed to be working on a turbocharged V8 engine that will up the Mercury Racing performance stakes to about 450hp.
In the meantime, here’s everything you need to know about the newest Verado to join the range, which now extends from 250hp to 400hp.
