Family-friendly Melbourne Boat Show

The 2006 Club Marine Melbourne Boat Show, billed by the organisers as the biggest indoor boat show in the southern hemisphere, will have a strong family focus

All of the major entertainment activities will be grouped this year in the one precinct, around the main stage.

According to organisers, the event will cater for everyone from enthusiastic fishers to mums and kids. Prizes and promotions to attract show-goers include a Melbourne-built new-release Savage 5.4m cuddy cabin with a Mercury OptiMax 115hp outboard and Dunbier trailer, plus daily tinnie and tackle packages.

Show organiser Julie Walsh said the new entertainment precinct would highlight how diverse the offerings were.

"We have always given mums and kids plenty to enjoy while dads are looking at boats and fishing gear, and this year is even more of the same," Walsh said.

Award categories for exhibitors include: Tourism, Fishing, Open Space, Water Sports, Shell, Power Boat -- Trailerable, Power Boat -- Large, and Best Stand Overall.
