New Zealand alloy boat maker Extreme Boats is believed to be launching its first trailerable catamaran for the recreational market after a twin-hulled boat was teased on social media yesterday.
The video was posted on Facebook by New Zealand-based Mastertech Marine, which is believed to be fitting the new cat with its twin Suzuki outboard engines.
“Something very exciting is happening at Mastertech Marine, a new addition to the Extreme Boats family,” the post said.
“All we can say is 'wow'! We are super excited and can’t wait to show you more about this very special craft.

“Watch this space as we fit out this weapon with all the latest gear on the market over the coming weeks,” Mastertech Marine said.
Catamarans are not new to Extreme, which has built large versions for commercial customers.
However, it has never built a catamaran that owners can easily slip onto a trailer and park up in a shed.
The new Extreme cat, in the early stage of its fit-out, features a pilothouse very similar to the one used on the Extreme Game King and Walkabout series boats.

The design features a high-sided deep-vee hull with symmetric sponsons that taper to virtual knife-points at the bow, and a low tunnel with what looks like a kedge running down the centreline.
Extreme confirmed to boatsales.com.au that it is working on a new trailerable model that will be a first for the brand, but provided no more details.
Extreme Boats are sold in Australia via Brisbane Marine, NSW-based Hastings Marine, Inverloch Marine in Victoria, Tasmania's Lewis Marine, and Sports Marine in Perth.
