Try Sailing Day is conducted at many sailing clubs around NSW and the ACT. It's a great way to have a fun day out with your partner, friends, work colleagues and family at no cost.
You’ll have the option to go out for a short sail with an experienced sailor, have a look around the clubs facilities, as well as find out about the programs and courses available. There is something for the whole family and even kids can sail when accompanied by a parent or guardian. People of all abilities are welcome and some clubs offer accessible facilities for people with a disability.
Discover Sailing Days are free to attend and all boats and safety equipment is provided by the club. All you need to bring is clothes and shoes, sun screen, and a hat. Shoes with non-marking soles are preferred.
You should register your interest beforehand to save time on arrival. Alternatively, you can simply turn up on the day at the participating club of your choice and register.
Safety is the highest priority for participating clubs, Yachting NSW and the Boating Industry Association of NSW. Please be aware that if weather conditions are unsafe a club may need to reschedule your sailing experience.
A few things you need to know:
• Participation is not limited by age however attendees need to be competent in swimming at least 20m wearing a lifejacket
• Preregistration is highly advised to ensure clubs allocate sufficient time for you to experience sailing
• You will need to sign/acknowledge a safety disclaimer during the online registration process or at the club you attend
