Elandra announces 47 footer

Plans unveiled for 47ft sport yacht and new dealer announced

Elandra Yachts unveiled plans for its next model, the Elandra 47 Sport Yacht, during the recent Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show. According to a press statement, development is now underway at the company's yard at Arundel on the Gold Coast and the boat is scheduled for launch mid-2016.

"It will follow similar lines to the Elandra 53," Managing Director Luke Durman explained. "It will feature all the engineering prowess, shaft drive performance and the same level of finish that has seen the success of the Elandra 53."

Durman said the company has sold four Elandra 53s since the launch in September last year.

"Our plan was, initially, to build three boats each year. It is with great pride throughout our team that we have already achieved that goal."

The three-cabin Elandra 47 will include two spacious queen staterooms; a full-beam master with private ensuite and a forward guest stateroom with shared ensuite on the port side. A bunk cabin is positioned to starboard.

The design of the Elandra 47 is in the same vein as the 53 with expansive bi-fold doors that open up to engage the cockpit with the galley and saloon settee as a single entertainment or leisure area.

The cockpit has been designed with no loss of space or features than the Elandra 53, and the aft cockpit lounge can be set up as dinette or coffee table setting at the push of a button. The aft boot accessed from the swim platform lifts up to reveal a garage lazarette for inflatables, kayaks, rods and tackle boxes, dive gear or additional freezers.

Standard power comes from twin Caterpillar C8.7 rated to 650hp. Options include Volvo D11 (670hp) and Scania 13-litre turbo diesel (675hp). The drive line is direct shaft with a low 10-degree shaft angle. A 15kVA generator provides ample electrical power to the boat.

The base price has been set at $1.24 million.

Meanwhile, Elandra has announced the appointment of Leigh-Smith Yachts as the company's exclusive dealers in Queensland and the Northern Territory.

The new dealership joins Elandra dealers in Sydney and Melbourne.

Speaking on the first day of the Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show, Durman said he was delighted that Ryan and Dean Leigh-Smith would represent the brand.

"Our companies share a similar culture and the Leigh-Smiths have a long and successful record in the luxury marine industry," he said.

Leigh-Smith Yachts is based at Sanctuary Cove, just a few kilometres from the Elandra yard in Arundel.

Durman said the company was in discussions with dealers in the United States and expect to display a boat at the Fort Lauderdale show in 2016.
