After much planning and public consultation, a new 154-berth Eden Marina with 100-unit residential development is set for construction on the shores of Twofold Bay on the NSW Far South Coast.
The Eden Marina project has launched its marketing campaign with the www.edenmarina.com.au website, which is calling for expressions of interest from boaters interesting in purchasing a berth at the future marina in the beautiful bay.
Boaters can log on to the website and register their interest for marina berths ranging from 12m-50m in length. The marina development has been designed to be well protected from wild weather by a 260m-long concrete panel wave attenuator.
Equidistant between Sydney and Melbourne, and with Canberra close by, Eden is a great boating destination in need of a safe boating haven. It is also about to become a major tourist ship destination following an injection of more than $40m of Federal and NSW Government funding including a recently announced $10m pledge into the Port Of Eden.
THE EDEN RESORT HOTEL
Meantime, Eden Marina represents the first stage of a multi-use development across 8.3 hectare of waterfront site at Cattle Bay. When completed, the154-berth floating marina will be complemented by the 4.5 star Eden Resort Hotel, 50 one-bedroom units, 50 two-bedroom units, serviced apartments and a residential development with 60 dwellings.
The Eden Marina component of the development will be constructed in three stages, with the 260m long concrete panel wave attenuator the first priority, followed by piling for the floating marina system. A shore-based amenities area and carpark will be established to facilitate the construction. The main marina walkway will be positioned alongside the existing Cattle Bay jetty, which is to be completely refurbished.
When complete, the Eden Marina will have berthing for 154 vessels with berth sizes of 12m, 15m, 18m and 50m available on a floating marina system extending into Twofold Bay.
Provision for visitor berths has been incorporated to ensure that boaters travelling along the east-coast can break their journey and call into Eden Marina for rest, repairs and provisioning, developers say.
EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST
"As we are approaching the final planning and design stages prior to construction, we’re very excited about the new Eden Marina development," said Michael Jarvin of Advanced Marina Management, project manager for Eden Marina, and a long-time marine industry veteran.
"We have launched the Eden Marina website and we’re also actively seeking expressions of interest from boat owners who may be interested in a berth at this pristine location."
The Eden Marina development is a core element of the Cattle Bay development. The site, formerly occupied by a large fish-processing and canning factory, is within short walking distance of the Eden commercial centre.
Once Eden Marina is constructed, works will begin on the Eden Resort Hotel and associated residential development. The Eden Resort Hotel will be a 60-room international hotel, conference and function centre with restaurant, bars and alfresco dining with serviced apartments attached.
The associated residential development at Cattle Bay will comprise a mix of multi-unit dwellings, townhouses and detached houses over five precinct sites. Within the residential development is the opportunity for retirement living, spa, health and wellness businesses, the developers add.
