Dufour launches new 382

New member of the Grand Large family offering ease of sailing and the choice of six interior layouts

The all-new Dufour Grand Large 382 will make its world debut at the Guvstaberg boat show on August 29. Dufour says it has taken elements of the 365, 375 and 380 and modified them to better suit the needs of customers and to aid ease of sailing.

The cockpit, for example, is 10cm longer than the previous 380 and sports a huge transom door. The area for the helmsman has been enlarged to improve backstay clearance, and a fixed bowsprit is going to be available as an option to fit a code 0 or similar sail for ease of handling. A self-tacking jib will also be on the options list.

The hull design has been developed by Felci Yacht and we’re told it offers the latest innovations in the hull form as well as rudder and keel design. The object was to offer a  comfortable and well-balanced yacht in all sailing conditions.

Down below, the Dufour 382 Grand Large will be offered with six different layouts.

Primarily, the yacht will be available with either a more Mediterranean galley layout along the port side or a more traditional layout with an L shaped galley further aft on the starboard side. The flexibility is intended to allow the 382 to better satisfy the different needs of customers from various parts of the world.

The second unique point of the new Grand Large is the possibility to have, in the longitudinal galley layout, a second head. This feature allows the 382 to appeal to customers who would normally be looking at a 40-42ft yacht. It’s also designed to offer more to those on a budget.

The French yacht maker says it has also looked at the ergonomics of the interior. The result is a modular table that is almost one metre long in daily use, which allows easy access to the lounge both from the front and aft side, then when it needs to be used for dining it can be extended up to 1.4 metres for up to eight diners.

First developed for the 410, the integrated chart table has been included in the 382 allowing the sofa to be further extended. Dufour claims that the 382 in its standard layout (with longitudinal galley, three cabins and one head) is the only one in its market with a traditional chart table and a wet locker behind the chart seat.

Other features of the new 382 are:
>> Single aft cabin with two-metre long bed either longitudinal or transverse
>> 160lt fridge with double drawers instead of top access for easier storage
>> Separate shower in the single-aft-cabin layout
>> Double front bulkhead door like on 310 and P36 for maximum sense of space
>> Choice of wood finishes, either moabi or oak
