Boats press buttons for all manner of reasons. Take White Ocean, a fitting new designer vessel deserving of some column centimetres... just because... she is so damn pretty.
One of France’s oldest running boatbuilders, Dubourdieu, has teamed up with French design house Courrèges for a collaboration on a very special New England picnic boat set to debut at Cannes Yachting Festival in September.
While we don’t normally spill ink over a foreign boat that’s not really available Down Under, unless you import one yourself, we can’t help but admire the stunning lines, design details and interesting blend of old and new. Timber battens meet clear-plastic tables!
United by common values of passion, expertise and authenticity, both companies came together to imagine a boat with clean lines and a unique identity, says Dubourdieu.
While mahogany and teak are used for the hull and details, Courrèges has added its style via Plexiglas tables on legs, mirror-polished stainless steel and white Kerrock ‘stone’ on the dashboard and the furniture.
Designer seats, bags, bath towels and crew uniforms complete the clean and bright aesthetic.
Dubourdieu is the oldest French shipyard still active today and a timber-boat specialist based in the Arcachon Basin. Tradition and innovation have been embraced for more than 210 years of boatbuilding.
White Ocean, this pretty handcrafted mahogany picnic sportsboat, is a 12-metre purely-for-pleasure vessel with New England styling and Yanmar engines. She will debut at the Cannes Yachting Festival in September, but would look pretty nice cruising local waterways.
