Discover Sailing Day will be held this Sunday (October 27) at many
sailing clubs around NSW. It is a fantastic way to have a great day out with
your partner, friends, work colleagues and family. And all at no cost.
You’ll have the option to go out for a short sail with an
experienced sailor, have a look around the chosen club’s facilities, and find
out about the sailing programs and courses available.
There is something for the whole family and even kids can
sail when accompanied by a parent or guardian. People of all abilities are
welcome and some clubs offer facilities, which are accessible to people with a
disability.
Discover Sailing Days are free to attend and the clubs
provides all boats and safety equipment. All you need to bring is clothes
and shoes you don’t mind getting wet, sunscreen, and a hat. Shoes with
non-marking soles are preferred.
Register your interest beforehand to save time on
arrival. Alternatively, you can simply turn up on the day at the
participating club of your choice and register.
Participants will be taken out on a short sail with an
experienced club member. Discover Sailing Days are very popular so you
may need to be patient and wait for your turn to sail.
Safety is the highest priority for participating clubs,
Yachting NSW and the Boating Industry Association of NSW. Please be aware
that if weather conditions are unsafe a club may need to reschedule your
sailing experience.
