The technology offers turbo-charged diesel vehicles a 15 to 25 per cent increase in power while returning a 10 per cent reduction in fuel use, said the company, and a 10 to 15 per cent power increase can be expected for non-turbo vehicles.
"It doesn't take long to realise the benefits of the changeover, as there are immediate performance improvements and fuel cost savings," said Damian Arena, managing director of LP GAS 1.
LP GAS 1 said most vehicles cost as little as $4400 to convert to DieselGas 1 which covers a standard conversion with a single tank and exhaust modification if required.
In most 4x4 vehicles, LPG tanks are typically located in place of the main muffler, said the company, and in most tray-type vehicles the LPG tanks are typically located under the tray.
LP GAS 1 said the conversion is sold with a three-year 100,000km warranty, and privately registered vehicles are eligible for a $2000 government rebate.
"DieselGas1 is good news for diesel motorists and for people on the land seeking to maximise the performance of their diesel engines," said Arena.
LP GAS 1 said DieselGas1 fumigates LPG vapour into the intake air-stream to enhance combustion and the amount of LPG used is controlled via a microprocessor controlled stepper-motor with the optimum ratio being one to 1.3lt of LPG to 10lt of diesel.
LPG, having a higher flash point than diesel, increases the burn rate of the diesel and therefore provides a more complete combustion, said the company, and by combining the two fuels, a far higher percentage, 95 to 97 per cent, of the diesel fuel is burnt resulting in increased power, cleaner emissions, lower exhaust temperatures and improved fuel consumption.
