d’Albora Marinas becomes Gold Sponsor of Marina Industries Association

d'Albora Marina's continues its expansion with sponsorship of peak industry body

d’Albora Marinas has taken up Gold Sponsorship of the Marina Industries Association (MIA), strengthening its involvement with the peak industry body for marina businesses across Australia, Asia and the Pacific.

The sponsorship, announced by the MIA on September 1, 2026, is intended to support the association’s work in areas including professional training, accreditation, environmental practices and industry research.

d’Albora has expanded significantly since being acquired by MA Financial Group in April 2023. The company’s marina portfolio has grown from 10 locations to 17 across Queensland, New South Wales and Victoria.

Among its more recent acquisitions are Tin Can Bay Marina on Queensland’s Great Sandy Strait, East Coast Marina in Manly, Brisbane, and Gold Coast City Marina & Shipyard, which was acquired in May 2026. The group also acquired GoBoat Australia in February 2026, adding an electric picnic-boat operation spanning seven destinations.

The company has also been investing in existing marina facilities, including d’Albora Pacific Point Marina & Boatyard on the Gold Coast, where 54 new wet berths have been delivered.

A second stage of development at Pacific Point has received planning approval and is expected to include a 14,000-square-metre commercial marine precinct, additional wet berths, work sheds, office space and expanded dry storage. The completed development is planned to accommodate more than 1400 berthing customers.

MA Financial Group Managing Director of Alternative Real Estate Brad Couper said the sponsorship reflected the company’s interest in supporting the development of the marine sector.

“A strong industry needs a strong association behind it,” Couper said.

He said the MIA’s work in setting standards, developing skills, collecting industry data and representing the sector was important as the marina industry continued to mature.

d’Albora Managing Director Julien Pouteau said the company’s decision was also influenced by the practical benefits its staff receive from MIA programs, events and industry data.

According to Pouteau, d’Albora staff have participated in the MIA’s Intermediate and Advanced Marina Management programs, while several managers hold certification through the Global Marina Institute, of which the MIA is a founding member.

MIA CEO Suzanne Davies welcomed d’Albora’s increased involvement, noting the company has been involved with the association’s training and accreditation programs for several years.

She said sponsorship funding would contribute towards areas including workforce development, accredited training, the Gold Anchor and Clean Marina programs, as well as industry research.

The Gold Sponsorship comes as d’Albora continues to increase its presence in the Australian marina sector through acquisitions and investment in existing facilities.
