Cyclone 2100
Performance raceboat manufacturer Cyclone Boats has been setting records on the tournament ski circuit since the release of the Cyclone 2100 in 1992The first model from the small Cairns (Qld)-based manufacturer, the Cyclone 2100 proved its race capabilities by taking out first place in Open Mens and Junior Boys at the 1997 World Water Ski Racing Championships in Sydney.
Since then, the company has launched a social version of the 2100 along with the 1900, a 2250 Sports Fish Centre Console and more recently, a 2000 Ultimate social boat. At present, it is finalising a 2250 Sports Bowrider.
Cyclone Boats' Chris Wilson says the boats are hand built by a workforce of four, guaranteeing a high quality construction.
"The handlaid construction enables us to apply the precise amount of fibreglass throughout the hull and deck for even weight distribution and maximum strength," Wilson adds.
PVC foam-cored floors, stringers and bulkheads, combined with vinylester resin laminate in the hull construction results in a lightweight, more durable vessel, she told Trailer Boat.
Fibreglass-encapsulated marine ply is used in the transom and running plank for further strength and durability while all fasteners and locknuts are stainless steel for strength and corrosion resistance.
The Cyclone 2100 is the company's most popular model. It is an all-round family skiboat which can handle anything from lake cruising to the open waters of its North Queensland breeding ground.
The social version is designed for a range of applications such as skiing, wakeboarding, dayboating... even fishing!
The carpeted interior features two bucket seats forward and a rear lounge. Other standard features include a built-in icebox, grab handles, rear boarding steps and high speed hydraulic steering. Two padded sidepockets run either side of the cockpit.
A range of other options such as wakeboard pole, teak trim on boarding steps and anodised fittings and canopy are available.
Fitted with a 200hp EFI Mercury outboard and an Easytow Tandem trailer, the Cyclone 2100 is priced from around $41,000.
Both social and race models of the Cyclone 2100 are available in sterndrive and outboard power versions.
