Cummins' 'New Family' Gets Tech Boost
Cummins MerCruiser Diesel has extended its Quantum diesel technology across a new family of engines, the QSD series, bringing the latest fuel injection technology to sterndrive and inboard applicationsThe QSD engines feature a high-pressure common rail fuel injection system that is said to significantly reduce smoke, noise and vibration while providing rapid and refined power delivery.
Cummins MerCruiser Diesel will officially launch the new QSD series at the Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show in May.
The QSD family is an evolutionary development of MerCruiser’s four and six-cylinder diesels and includes 2lt, 2.8lt, and 4.2lt engines with ratings spanning 85 to 257kW (115 to 350hp).
The QSD family features an advanced ‘electronic control module’ with SmartCraft compatibility.
The SmartCraft system constantly monitors engine performance parameters, providing instant diagnostics and operations data at the helm via a digital display.
