Finding the elusive balance between a dedicated fishing boat and a fun family runabout is no easy task but it is one that Brisbane-based CruiseCraft seems to have managed with its recently released Offshore 595 model.
The new vessel slots in perfectly between the company's popular 575 and 625 models and sure to enjoy the same success as the CruiseCraft 485 and 530 models that were released onto the market last year.
The new 595 continues the design and style established with the 530. The generously-flared bow and sleek deck line end in a rolling gunwale profile that has now won plaudits from across the country. The CruiseCraft Outsider range has achieved a look that owners reckon put the "wow" factor into boating.
The practicality of the Outsider design appeals to families as it is perfect for both serious fishing as well as family cruising and summertime fun. The full walk-around deck design adds safety and the moulded one-piece fibreglass patterned floor liner in the cockpit is both easy on the feet and easy to maintain. A clip-out removable marine carpet can be laid over the cockpit floor for increased comfort.
The helm area has been made expansive enough to carry the large range of electronic engine monitors and marine electronics, such as fish finders, that most boaters demand these days. Keen fishermen will appreciate the plumbed, underfloor storage tank that can double as a generous storage bin when the family is aboard.
Comfort is assured with a new style SST Targa/Bimini canopy that is an optional extra, as is a sliding and lockable cabin door. The full width rear lounge can be quickly folded away when not in use. The snug cabin is long enough to permit overnighting in relative comfort.
At 6.35 metres overall and with a beam of 2.44 metres, the Outsider 595 is a substantial boat but the hull is so efficient that the maximum power rating for an outboard engine is 175hp. However boaters will find that exceptional performance can be obtained with just a modest 135hp outboard on the transom. Pricing is from early to mid 80s depending on specification.
