Cranchi world tour to drop into Docklands
A visit by Cranchi’s owner coincides with the arrival of the first two boats in MelbourneGuido Cranchi, the chief executive of the Italian motor yacht brand that bears his name, will visit Melbourne next week as part of a world tour to promote the brand to new customers.
The visit, which will include Cranchi – pronounced “crunchy” – sales and marketing chief Adriano Foghini, coincides with the arrival of the first two Cranchi sports cruisers to land in Australia via Melbourne-based dealership Terence Dean Boat Sales, an M44 Hard Top and a Z35 that arrived here yesterday.
As part of the world tour, Terence Dean Boat Sales will host a reception for interested customers at Newquay Promenade Docklands, where they can meet Cranchi and step aboard the boats.
The reception will run from 3pm to 9pm on Friday, December 9 and include food and drinks. Anyone interested in attending the event can register for it via the Terence Dean website.
Terence Dean managing director Dean Jackson said it was the first time in more than a decade that Guido Cranchi had visited Australia, making this a rare opportunity to see both the boats and the man who builds them.
“These two boats are both sports cruisers,” Jackson said. “They’re both weekenders with pepper cabins downstairs and a galley, and the M44 MT even has two cabins and two heads,” Jackson said.
“Both have nice, big, open European designs for their cockpits, and sun decks forward, and if you look around Port Phillip Bay, this size of boat fits in quite well.”
The 11.5-metre Cranchi Z35 is a sports cruiser with a completely open cockpit, elegant lines and sublime comfort.
The cockpit features a C-shaped sofa that converts to a sunbed, an outdoor galley and a superyacht-styled Targa arch overhead for mounting aerials and radomes.
Powering it is a pair of 270hp Volvo Penta D4s linked to duoprop sterndrives that can push the Cranchi Z35 along at more than 30 knots, yet cruise comfortably at around 20 knots.
Meanwhile, the 13.8-metre Cranchi M44 Hard Top is built with an on-deck saloon space, but utilising a soft top that retracts to open the inside of the space to the outside. If the weather turns, close it and the Cranchi M44 Hard Top stays warm and dry.
Below decks, the Cranchi M44 Hard Top has had a recent makeover that includes a finish signed off by acclaimed yacht designer Christan Grande.
The layout includes a forward and aft suite, with a chef’s galley in between.
Powering this model is a pair of 400hp Volvo Penta D6 inboard engines spinning duoprop sterndrives.
The performance on tap is enough to push the Cranchi M44 Hard Tip to a top speed of 34 knots, with a comfortable cruise speed of just over 20 knots.
