Compass 165CC Centre Console arrives

A drive-away centre console for $3000 a year with Yamaha F90, trailer and all the gear

Following on from the release of the first Compass 150CC in Sydney, importer Dan Hanoumis has landed the first 165CC in the country.

Both centre consoles are pitched as great harbour and bay boats for fishing, family outings and just cruising around.

Made in Greece, the Compass are popular self-drive boats on the Med'. But it has been Dan's plan to try and build an affordable share-boat fleet locally to make pleasure boating more accessible.

You can read about the club membership deal as it was pitched for the 150CC in Sydney in this previous Compass news story.

There are now eight club members in the Sydney syndicate and plans are underway to expand into Queensland.

ACCREDITED BUILD
Compass has been manufacturing boats in Greece for more than 40 years, with the next generation of family boatbuilders recently entering the business.

Locally, Dan has put the boats into AMSA-accredited Certificate of Operation in order to establish a boating-club framework that allows you to buy membership to then access these two Compass models.

Everything including storage at Sydney Boat House is factored in. The drive-away trailerboat rigs are also keenly priced.

THE NEW COMPASS 165CC
The more capable 165CC is powered by the remarkable new Yamaha F90 four-stroke outboard (report), an impressive outboard that you can see running in the local launch videos on our sites.

"Although there is only 1.5ft in length and a bit more beam they feel and behave like a much larger boat than the 150CC," Dan says.

All 165cc’s brought into the country are fully optioned with anything from ski hooks, removable sundeck, full cushion inserts and a dual console.

Performance wise they are hitting 38 knots off a standard prop on the Yamaha F90. Range with the 86 litre tank and economy of the F90 has been great.

Boat/motor/trailer packages are priced from $37k with the F90. With optional 9in Raymarine Atomix MFD, premium Fusion sound and Yamaha command link gauges, the first demo boat topped out at $42k.

As well as selling the rigs outright, Dan plans to offer the Compass 165CC through club membership 'share-boating' deals.

Annual membership costs $3000 a year or $300 a month. For this you get 2000 access points. The 150CC costs 100 points a day to use and 165CC costs 150 points a day.
