Bombardier Recreational Products, known more often by its acronym BRP, knows how to party. And so it was this week in Sydney for the official launch of its groundbreaking Evinrude ETEC G2 outboard engine.
We first drove the ETEC at its world launch in Wisconsin mid-2014 and you can read the technical details in our comprehensive launch story here.
Since then, we’ve been jumping aboard more and more boats back home with the dynamic direct-injection two-stroke outboard.
Inspired by Iron Man, the G2 reinvents, redefines and relaunches the two-stroke outboard engine at a time when four-strokes are on the ascendency.
#clubBRP, as its known around the world, was also the launch platform for the new Can-Am Spyder F3 three-wheeler, the Sea-Doo Spark in several funky new colour schemes ( we tested The Spark over three days
here), and a new commitment by BRP to support
Surf Life Saving around Australia.
For the marine dealers in the APAC region, the Evinrude ETEC G2 in 200-300hp models was the drawcard. In case you needed reminding, here are the ETEC G2’s big claims:

For the official Australian launch, the Evinrude ETEC G2 was fitted in single and twin installations aboard a range of trailerboats from the Quintrex 610 Hard Top with Aussie wrap to the stunning Sea Fox 286 Commander centre console through a big Evolution Hard Top to a Sea Devil, renovated Haines Hunter V19 and big BRIG RIB.
BoatPoint and boatsales were primed to test a new twin 200hp ETEC G2 Evolution from this local launch fleet. So watch this space for more details. Meantime, those Canucks sure know how to celebrate the fun-filled recreational-vehicle market, attracting more than 400 supporters to their famous #clubBRP in Sydney.
