Clipper launches Hudson Bay cruisers
New luxury sedan vesselsClipper Motor Yachts used the Sydney boat show to announce it is to bring two new luxury cruisers onto the Australian market. The first will be the Hudson Bay 54 which will be on display at next year's sanctuary Cove boat show.
The vessel is now under construction at the Hudson Bay yard in China. The 54 will be followed later next year by the Hudson Bay 47.
The design brief for the Hudson Bay yachts was to combine Clipper’s classic styling with a single-level sport motor yacht with contemporary lines and a functional layout for family boating.
Clipper Yachts Australia managing director Brett Hurley says many companies have produced sedan style motor yachts that focus on a “day boat” layout, which he says render the boats very one dimensional. “We have combined a layout and features that will focus on families getting away and staying aboard while offering a comprehensive range of contemporary features,” Hurley says.
The Hudson Bay 54 will have a family and entertaining area stretching from the large aft cockpit, which is protected by generous overhangs, through the galley and saloon to a unique open lounge area in the bow.
The saloon, with wraparound windows and a sunroof, includes a well-equipped galley located aft. There is a dinette with a curved L-shaped lounge and a two seat helm station with a side door opening to the walk-around decks.
Two accommodation layouts will be available, a three cabin/two head and a two cabin/two head. The two cabin layout has a large guest cabin in the bow and a large master stateroom amidships. The companionway runs along the port side of the vessel. In the three cabin version, the companionway is central and the master is foward with a double cabin either side of the companionway.
There is also space under the cockpit for a children’s cabin.
The unique foredeck has a large lounge area with walk through seating and a dining area.
Thurley says he believes the new boats willl offer Australian families the perfect blend of indoor and outdoor living.
The Hudson Bay 54 will have a cruising speed of 12 knots and a top speed in excess of 20 knots.
