Clipper impresses winners

New Clipper Cordova 60 a hit with winners of the GC Marine Expo 'Ultimate Boat Experience'

When the Victorian winner of the Gold Coast Marine Expo’s Ultimate Boating Experience was told she had won a weekend boating on the Broadwater and surrounds, she wasn’t quite sure what to expect, but she sure didn’t expect to have what she said was the best weekend ever.

Easing into the long weekend on Thursday, January 15, Trish, her husband Sandy and friends Naomi, John and Rachel arrived at the Gold Coast City Marina in a limousine to be greeted by their host and owner of DBM hospitality and events, Melanie Smith. They boarded the new, Clipper Motor Yachts, Cordova 60 – a luxurious 61-foot flybridge cruiser priced at over $1.9million.

The guests said they couldn’t believe the size and spaciousness of the vessel and were impressed by the contemporary interiors and three-cabin, two bathroom layout: "It really is a beautiful boat," said Trish. "And it’s big … there’s plenty of room."

"I was very impressed by the hydraulic swim platform too, and the luxurious accommodation – Sandy and I stayed in the master cabin amidships while John and Rachel stayed forward in the guest cabin and Naomi had the third cabin to herself."

Skipper, Jeremy Cooper, captained them through the Broadwater while they celebrated with a bottle of champagne and gourmet sandwiches. Anchoring at Bums Bay in the afternoon provided the perfect opportunity to make the most of the balmy weather by jumping overboard for a swim and enjoying wine and a tasty cheese platter on the flybridge whilst watching the sunset.

"My family and I have been coming up to the Gold Coast for holidays since I was young but never have I realized how much is at your doorstep until this weekend!" said Trish’s friend, Naomi.

It was an early run to Tangalooma in Moreton Bay on Saturday morning, with glamour conditions guests couldn’t believe their luck, escaping the drismal Melbourne weather. Jeremy stopped the boat near the pylons in Moreton Bay and took them for a quick spin in the tender to chase the schools of Mackerel.

"Jeremy and Mel were fantastic hosts and we can’t thank Clipper Motor Yachts and the Gold Coast Marine Expo enough for what was definitely the ultimate boating experience," exclaimed Trish.

They arrived back at the marina Sunday morning, with a limo waiting to take them to the airport.

"For a group of people who had done minimal boating, they are certainly hooked and are still emailing me photos and raving about the trip!" said Mel.
